Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi is meeting with the head of Morocco’s new liaison office in Israel, Abdel Rahim al-Bayoud, at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, the Times of Israel reports.
Al-Bayoud arrived in Israel this afternoon following the two countries’ agreement to normalize ties.
Ashkenazi wished him luck in his mission to advance Israeli-Moroccan ties. Al-Bayoud says he was happy to be appointed to the post and will work to bring the countries closer together.
“Welcome to Israel,” Ashkenazi says. “Today we’re making history!”
