The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Levy, met with the staff in the corona wards at Peda-Poria Medical Center, and noted the dramatic increase in the number of Corona patients hospitalized. The director of the medical center, Dr. Erez On, opened the visit with a review of the medical center. Done to reduce gaps and open up medical services which are lacking for the residents of the area.
Dr. On: “In the field of pulmonary medicine we have taken some significant steps to provide a complete and comprehensive solution, we have opened a chest and lung surgery unit, headed by Dr. Ben Avi, we have a lung function lab with the most advanced equipment and soon we can address patients in need of lung rehabilitation “There is no lung rehabilitation institute in the entire area. In the coming weeks, a lung rehabilitation institute will be opened, which will be run by Dr. Claudia Simsolo.”
He further noted the dramatic increase in the number of corona patients: “There is no doubt that we are now facing the third wave record, the number of hospitalized corona patients has exceeded 50! This is a record we have not had since the outbreak. This means high ward load and heavy burden on the treating staff.”
In a conversation with the staff at the Corona departments, the Director General of the Ministry of Health said: “I would like to thank you for your hard work over the past year and especially these days when there is a huge load in the Corona departments. It is your supreme effort and we do not know how long you will be able to continue like this, so we took up the doomsday weapon – which is the complete closure. ”
“Together with the vaccination campaign, I believe we will reach 2 million vaccinated by the end of the month. To reach ‘herd immunity’ we need 4-5 million vaccinated and we estimate we will reach this destination at the end of March, beginning of April. We hope then we can come back to life.”
