Beis Din in Beitar Illit: “It is forbidden to report Corona violations to authorities”

Following many cases in which residents have complained to the police about violations of Corona restrictions, the local Ashkenazi Beis Din issues an order against the phenomenon, while urging adherence to the precautionary restrictions due to the virus.

Under the heading ‘Severe Warning’, the members of the Beis Din first assert that “it is a Torah obligation to maintain the health of body and mind, and therefore it is an absolute duty to be careful and steer clear of danger, and even more so to avoid exposing others to danger.”

“We have already urged several times that all the precautionary edicts set by the doctors should be observed, and God forbid to underestimate them, and whoever sees or believes that the rules are not being observed, should protest in the way of Torah.”

“However,” they add “after several incidents occurred in our city, where people turned to the authorities for wrongdoing, causing grief, heartache, and damage to others for naught, we mended the fence, as follows: It is forbidden to approach the authorities in this matter in Beitar Illit”.

In conclusion, the members of the Beis Din in the most afflicted city in Israel, express their hope that “by virtue of the steadfast observance of the foundations of Torah, we will be merited with the blessing of removing sickness from our midst.”
