“Biden is making calls to world leaders according to the order he sees fit. He has not reached the Middle East yet,” the prime minister notes after former US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley accuses Biden of “snubbing Israel” and “cozying up to enemies like Iran.”
“The Israel-US alliance is strong and so is our friendship of almost 40 years, though we may not agree on everything,” he added. “I spoke with President Biden right after his victory.”
There has been contact between senior US officials and their Israeli counterparts. National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat was the third person in his position to get a call from his American counterpart Jake Sullivan, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, on the day after his confirmation.
