Rocket shot from Gaza toward Beersheba during Netanyahu campaign stop

Several Hebrew media reports indicate that a rocket shot from Gaza landed near Beersheba. The attack occurred a short while after Likud head Benjamin Netanyahu had been campaigning in the city. Some reports indicate he had been there at the time of the attack, but Likud tells Haaretz that he had left the area by then.

Several candidates have been campaigning in Beersheba and other areas of the northern Negev throughout the day. Gaza terrorists have targeted Netanyahu campaign events in the past.

The rocket seemingly landed in an open area without causing damage or injuries. No alarms sounded.

The Israel Defense Forces says a rocket was fired out of the Gaza Strip into Israel.

No alarms sound in populated areas.

The military does not say where the rocket landed, but there are no reports of injuries or damage.

The rocket attack comes a short while after Likud head Benjamin Netanyahu visited the northern Negev to stump for support.
